David Ortiz Juan es un artista cuya práctica entrelaza la pintura, el video y la escritura para indagar en formas de permanencia y pertenencia a través de la imagen, el tiempo y el desplazamiento. Su obra construye narrativas no lineales que transitan entre lo místico y lo mundano, explorando los límites de lo humano y nuestra relación con lo que llamamos mundo natural. Partiendo del fotograma como elemento fundamental, trabaja la imagen como unidad de tiempo y como huella fantasmal, poniendo en relación la imagen pictórica y la cinematográfica por medio de series y secuencias. Actualmente vive y trabaja en Ciudad de México.

David Ortiz Juan es graduado por la ArtEZ University of the Arts de Arnhem, Países Bajos, y cursó una maestría en el Sandberg Instituut de Ámsterdam. Su obra se ha expuesto nacional e internacionalmente en Museo Can Framis (Barcelona, 2025), Green Parrot (Barcelona, 2021), Centro de Arte Lo Pati (Amposta, 2020), Kunstraum Lakeside (Klagenfurt, 2019), Salón ACME (Ciudad de México, 2019), Fabra i Coats (Barcelona, 2018), Centre del Carme (València, 2018), Galería Luis Adelantado (València, 2017), Medrar for Contemporary Art (Cairo, 2017), Galerie Juliètte Jongma (Amsterdam, 2014) y Stedelijk Museum Breda (Breda, 2014), entre otros. Ha sido artista residente en EART (Barcelona, 2024–2025), Hangar (Barcelona, 2018–2020), y la International Academy of Art Palestine (Ramallah, 2014). David Ortiz Juan is an artist whose practice intertwines painting, video, and writing to investigate forms of permanence and belonging through image, time, and displacement. His work constructs non-linear narratives that move between the mystical and the mundane, exploring the limits of the human and our relationship with what we call the natural world. Taking the film frame as a fundamental element, he treats the image as a unit of time and a ghostly trace, establishing a dialogue between the pictorial and the cinematic image through series and sequences. He currently lives and works in Mexico City.

David Ortiz Juan is a graduate of ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem, The Netherlands, and completed a master’s degree at the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in Museo Can Framis (Barcelona, 2025), Green Parrot (Barcelona, 2021), Centro de Arte Lo Pati (Amposta, 2020), Kunstraum Lakeside (Klagenfurt, 2019), Salón ACME (Mexico City, 2019), Fabra i Coats (Barcelona, 2018), Centre del Carme (Valencia, 2018), Galería Luis Adelantado (Valencia, 2017), Medrar for Contemporary Art (Cairo, 2017), Galerie Juliètte Jongma (Amsterdam, 2014), and Stedelijk Museum Breda (Breda, 2014), among others. He has held residencies at EART (Barcelona, 2024–2025), Hangar (Barcelona, 2018–2020), and the International Academy of Art Palestine (Ramallah, 2014). He received the 2020 City of Amposta Art Biennial Prize and the Hangar Production Grant (2018).
