David Ortiz Juan es un artista cuya práctica se desarrolla entre la pintura, el video y la escritura. Su obra crea narrativas íntimas que se abren a perspectivas más que humanas. Suele partir de la ficción literaria para imaginar personajes, gestos y acciones que posteriormente se escenifican en pinturas y videos de atmósfera cinematográfica.
Es graduado de la ArtEZ University of the Arts de Arnhem y del Sandberg Instituut de Amsterdam. Su obra se ha expuesto internacionalmente en Salón ACME (Ciudad de México), Galería Luis Adelantado (València), Fabra i Coats (Barcelona), Centre del Carme (València), The Green Parrot (Barcelona), Kunstraum Lakeside (Klagenfurt), Lo Pati – Centre d'Art Terres de l'Ebre (Amposta), Medrar for Contemporary Art (El Cairo), Galerie Juliètte Jongma (Ámsterdam), The State Darwin Museum (Moscú), Stedelijk Museum Breda (Breda) y La Rambleta (València), entre otros. Ha sido artista residente en EART (Barcelona, 2024–2025), Hangar (Barcelona, 2018–2020) y la International Academy of Art Palestine (Ramallah, 2014). Ha sido finalista del Premio de Pintura Antoni Vila Casas (Museo Can Framis, Barcelona, 2025) y ha recibido el Premio Bienal de Arte Ciudad de Amposta (2020) y la Beca de Producción de Hangar (2018).

David Ortiz Juan is an artist whose practice unfolds across painting, moving image, and writing. His work creates intimate narratives that open onto more-than-human perspectives. He often draws on literary fiction to imagine characters, gestures, and actions that are later staged in paintings and videos with a cinematic atmosphere.
He graduated from ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem and the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam. His work has been exhibited internationally at Salón ACME (Mexico City), Galería Luis Adelantado (Valencia), Fabra i Coats (Barcelona), Centre del Carme (Valencia), The Green Parrot (Barcelona), Kunstraum Lakeside (Klagenfurt), Lo Pati – Centre d'Art Terres de l'Ebre (Amposta), Medrar for Contemporary Art (Cairo), Galerie Juliètte Jongma (Amsterdam), the State Darwin Museum (Moscow), Stedelijk Museum Breda (Breda) and La Rambleta (Valencia), among others. He has been an artist-in-residence at EART (Barcelona, 2024–2025), Hangar (Barcelona, 2018–2020) and the International Academy of Art Palestine (Ramallah, 2014). He was a finalist for the Antoni Vila Casas Painting Prize (Can Framis Museum, Barcelona, 2025) and received the Ciutat d'Amposta Art Biennial Prize (2020) and the Hangar Production Grant (2018).
