David Ortiz Juan es un artista cuya práctica entrelaza la pintura, la imagen en movimiento y la escritura. Su obra construye narrativas íntimas que buscan producir un extrañamiento de lo cotidiano, abriéndolo a perspectivas más que humanas. Para ello, emplea figuras alegóricas que le permiten indagar en la posibilidad de las imágenes de contener el carácter iniciático de los relatos mitológicos.

Es graduado de la ArtEZ University of the Arts de Arnhem y del Sandberg Instituut de Amsterdam. Su obra se ha expuesto internacionalmente en Salón ACME (Ciudad de México), Galería Luis Adelantado (València), Fabra i Coats (Barcelona), Centre del Carme (València), The Green Parrot (Barcelona), Kunstraum Lakeside (Klagenfurt), Lo Pati – Centre d'Art Terres de l'Ebre (Amposta), Medrar for Contemporary Art (El Cairo), Galerie Juliette Jongma (Ámsterdam), The State Darwin Museum (Moscú), Stedelijk Museum Breda (Breda) y La Rambleta (València), entre otros. Ha sido artista residente en EART (Barcelona, 2024–2025), Hangar (Barcelona, 2018–2020) y la International Academy of Art Palestine (Ramallah, 2014). Ha recibido el Premio Bienal de Arte Ciudad de Amposta (2020) y la Beca de Producción de Hangar (2018).

David Ortiz Juan is an artist whose practice unfolds across painting, moving image, and writing. His work constructs intimate narratives that seek to produce a sense of estrangement from the everyday, opening it up to more-than-human perspectives. To this end, he employs allegorical figures that allow him to explore the possibility of images to contain the initiatory character of mythological narratives.
